My best advice for the brides and grooms at the Expo was keep you music list to about 1-2 pages or 100 songs. Unfortunately, time is so precious at the reception and all great songs cannot be played. I feel that the couple would enjoy the LIMITED SONGLIST, so you hear your favorites throughout the reception. A huge songlist leaves so many selections passed over. So, a limited, focused songlist creates better expectations.
And with regards to REQUESTS, I show the inquisitive guest, your songlist , so the request comes from your own songlist. Clever. You should also have a couple of “do not play” songs. This is a great way to target the your expectations. By doing this, I can exceed those expectations.
